Construction underway on Jackson Avenue bridge

September 5, 2013
Murrieta is building a bridge on the street to nowhere. Finally. Construction workers are clearing a path in Warm Springs Creek for concrete footings that will support a bridge linking Murrieta’s Jackson Avenue with Temecula’s Ynez Road. To be completed next summer, the long-desired connection will make it easier for people to shop, drive to work and take children to school, officials say. And it will increase travel options for emergency vehicles. Though the bridge is something Murrieta and Temecula officials have talked about since the mid-1990s, Murrieta Mayor Rick Gibbs said the issue hit home after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. He said there was talk about the need for a transportation system capable of evacuating an entire city, if necessary, during a disaster. -More-

Fire Contained to Three Car Garage

January 24, 2012
At just before 7:30 pm on Tuesday night, the Murrieta Fire Department was called to 25016 Trilogy Trails Lane near Ivy Street in the west side of Murrieta for a structure fire.
When units arrived, they found an estimated 2,500 square foot, three-car garage, that was completely involved with fire and within five feet of the main house. Crews were able to stop the fire within 25 minutes and keep it confined to the garage after experiencing a complete roof collapse. Eighteen firefighters arrived to fight the fire and no injuries occurred. Contents and destroyed structure were estimated to be a loss of 250,000 dollars. Fire investigators from the Murrieta Fire Department classified the cause of the fire as undetermined but have concluded that equipment within the garage was the most likely cause of the fire. The fire was noticed by a neighbor who called "911" prior to the homeowner being aware.
