2023 Citywide Slurry Seal Project

Planning for the 2023 Citywide Slurry Seal Project will begin in the Spring of 2023. If your residential street was not completed in 2019 or 2021, the it will be included in the 2023 project. The City does not slurry private streets, such as ones behind a gate or were not constructed to City standards and are not maintained by the City.

Project Description:

Application of asphalt emulsion and aggregate rock (Slurry) to approximately 10 million square feet of local streets in the City of Murrieta, which represents about 25% of local streets. Contractor will perform repair of significant asphalt defects, filling of cracks, removal/replacement of pavement striping and markings, and slurry application.

Project Purpose:

Slurry seal is applied in order to help preserve and protect the underlying pavement structure and provide a new driving surface, which will wear over time. Crack fill and slurry help prevent water from penetrating the surface and degrading the underlying structure.

Project Schedules:

The projected start date is October 2023.
