FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

City to Break Ground on Major Town Square Park Upgrades

The City of Murrieta will host a groundbreaking for Phase 3 of Town Square Park on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at the site. Mayor Kelly Seyarto will provide an overview of the improvements, which include an outdoor amphitheater, tiered-style seating that integrates with the landscape, improved lighting, WiFi and security cameras. Stop by for speakers, refreshments and to view project drawings.

Town Square Park sits at the heart of the City and is a popular gathering place for the community. Completed in July 2007, the first phase included the installation of underground utilities, landscaping, lighting, and a basic concrete stage area. Since its initial construction, the City has added the Veterans Memorial, the Veterans Honor Garden, the Fallen Warriors Memorial, and the 9/11 Memorial to the park.

“This next phase will be the biggest endeavor to date as we put the final touches on this multi-purpose gathering place for residents and visitors,” says Mayor Kelly Seyarto, “As our community grows, having central places for people to connect becomes even more important, and this will be wonderful place to come together in downtown Murrieta.”

Murrieta is home to 52 community parks, ranging from quiet greenbelts to a state-of-the-art 47-acre sports park, but the Town Square Park upgrades will bring the first fully equipped outdoor amphitheater to the City and will provide opportunities for music, theater, storytelling and a wide range of performances.

Construction will begin early next year and will be completed in 9-12 months, with most work taking place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The stage and the side landscaped areas will be closed during construction.  Town Square Park is located behind Murrieta City Hall at 1 Town Square.
