At the League of California Cities Annual Conference last week, Mayor Kelly Seyarto was elected as the statewide Mayors and Council Members Department President and continued his League work as a member of the League’s Policy Committee and an at-Large Member of the Riverside County Division Executive Committee.

City staff also took on key positions in the organization, with Murrieta City Manager, Kim Summers, stepping into a new role as At-Large Board Member in the League of California Cities City Manager Department, representing Southern California cities over 100,000.

City Clerk Stephanie Smith wrapped up her term as the League's President of the City Clerk's Department, where she led City Clerks throughout the state and worked to develop and share best practices in the field. She will support the leadership transition over the next year as Immediate Past President.

“As a mid-sized city, we value the effectiveness and efficiency of working collaboratively with other communities and speaking with one voice when possible,” explains Mayor Kelly Seyarto. “While there are sometimes big differences between us, we also have a lot in common--particularly our wish to keep decisions that impact our residents at the local level. We all want what works best for each of our communities.”

The League is an association of cities across the state amplifies the voice of cities in Sacramento and at the national level. They act as an advocate for local control and proponent of legislation that supports cities.
