Murrieta Public Library Plans April Packed with Family Fun

The City of Murrieta Public Library is in full bloom with an April packed with fun! The month features spring events that will delight and engage community members of all ages. From educational workshops to fun-filled activities, these events foster community and bring people together to celebrate the season. Whether you’re looking for something new, to connect with others in the community, or simply to have some fun, these events are not to be missed.

Touch-a-Truck – Tuesday, April 4 | 10 a.m. | Memorial Way outside of the back entrance to the Murrieta Public Library
This year, over 18 vehicles, including fire trucks, police cars, and public works vehicles, will be available for touring and picture-taking. Last year's event was a success with over 500 attendees, and this year's event is expected to be even bigger, especially since it coincides with Murrieta Valley Unified School District's spring break. Hosted by the Murrieta Public Library, families are encouraged to bring their kids to tour various working trucks from around Murrieta and Riverside County. Participating organizations include Murrieta Fire & Rescue, Murrieta Police Department, Murrieta Public Works Department, Murrieta Valley Historical Society, T. Maus Grading and Paving, Black’s Towing, Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Waste Management, Park Rangers, Riverside Transit Agency, San Diego Blood Bank, Smash My Trash, RivCo Animal Services, Animal Friends of the Valley, and CalFire Riverside.

Ranger Rap: Meet Your Park Ranger | Wednesday, April 5 | 9:30 a.m. | Antelope Hills Park
In partnership with the City’s Parks and Recreation team, the Murrieta Public Library is excited to announce the new RANGER RAP program to be launched this spring break! This new program will provide talks from park rangers, storytime, crafts, games, snacks, and a mobile library, where attendees can check out books based on the Ranger Rap and obtain a library card. Each participant will take home a goodie bag filled with great giveaways, and there will even be a chance to take a photo with the mascot, Ricky the Raccoon!

Earth Day and Plant Trade | Saturday, April 22 | 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Memorial Way outside of the back entrance to the Murrieta Public Library
The 3rd annual Earth Day and Plant Trade event will be bigger than ever this year! This free family event has something for everyone and will feature speakers, vendors, and food stalls. The highlight of the event will be the plant trade, where participants can trade their plants, seeds, knowledge, or tools with event partners Plant Traders Inland Empire. An exciting addition to this year’s event is Drive Electric Earth Day, a local electric vehicle showcase. Come for a fun day in celebration of sustainability!

Murrieta Seed Library Ribbon Cutting | Saturday, April 22 | noon | Memorial Way outside of the back entrance to the Murrieta Public Library
The Seed Library will have its ribbon-cutting ceremony during the Earth Day event. The Seed Library’s grant-funded expansion will provide the community of Murrieta with a larger seed library, providing free access to seeds and fostering community resilience, self-resilience, and sharing among neighbors. The Library is starting a new garden club—Murrieta Grows and Murrieta Grows Kids Club—to help support the newly expanded Seed Library, the coming pollinator garden, and a variety of presentations and activities.
