PUBLIC HEARING FOR AN ORDINANCE TITLED: An Ordinance of The City of Murrieta, California Adopting the California Fire Code, 2022 Edition, Based on the 2021 International Fire Code with Certain Amendments, Additions, and Deletions, and Repealing Chapter 15.24 of the Murrieta Municipal Code in its Entirety and Replacing with A New Chapter 15.24.
Every three years the State of California repeals and adopts administrative regulations to the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, also referred to as the California Building Standards Code (CBSC). The action being considered is to formally adopt the 2022 CBSC along with certain local administrative amendments. This ordinance adoption updates Murrieta’s Building Codes and formalizes Murrieta Building Division’s operational practices pursuant to California Health and Safety Code and California Building Standards Commission. This action will amend the prior editions pursuant to the California Swimming Pool Safety Act, which requires implementation of at least two of seven listed pool drowning prevention features as a condition of obtaining a pool construction permit for a private singly family home. This action is for the protection of public health and safety, particularly the safety of children, which will require an approve pool enclosure as one of the safety features. The action being considered also includes adoption of the 2022 California Fire Code with local amendments as necessary to continue providing the community with the most up to date safety standards. These amendments are similar in nature to the existing amendments to the current fire code with no substantial additions.
Any interested person may either submit written comments to the City Council before the hearing or may appear and be heard before the City Council at the time of the hearing. Written comments may be submitted to the City Clerk at 1 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562 and by email at [email protected]. Written comments may also be submitted at the public hearing. If you challenge the City’s action on this amendment in court you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the City Council prior to the public hearing. The proposed ordinance may be reviewed at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall Monday – Thursday from 7:30 - 5:00 p.m. and alternate Fridays from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
