[ARCHIVED] City Plans Spooktacular Fun and Celebrates Ranking as One of the Safest in the Nation

Safest City Halloween Image and Graphic

Join the City of Murrieta for the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat and Dark in the Park movie night, hosted by Murrieta City employees and first responders. On Saturday, October 29, head to Murrieta Town Square Park for a spooktacular time. The community is invited to bring their little ones for a trunk or treat event from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. The Murrieta Police Department and dozens of other City teams will be there to pass out treats at decorated booths. City vehicles, including Murrieta’s antique fire engine, decorated for the festivities will make great backdrops for the many monsters,  superheroes, and other fun characters who will be visiting Town Square Park that evening. This fun and safe trunk or treat is the perfect way to celebrate the Halloween weekend with friends and family. The event will take place along the loop road of Town Square Park.

After the trunk or treat fun, residents are encouraged to stick around for our Dark in the Park movie night, hosted by Murrieta’s Community Services Department. The classic fall favorite, Ghostbusters, will be shown at Town Square Park Amphitheater at approximately 7:30 p.m. Bring your blankets, chairs, and snacks and enjoy an evening under the stars.

All activities are free to attend. For additional information, please visit the City’s special event website or contact staff at (951) 304-PARK (7275).

And for everyone who also plans to also trick or treat in the community on Halloween, great news! The National Chamber of Commerce has ranked Murrieta among the safest in the nation for trick-or-treating! Halloween safety statistics were compiled to determine this ranking for cities with more than 100,000 residents from across the United States. The Chamber of Commerce analyzed data from more than 300 cities and compared those cities across five equally weighted metrics: pedestrian fatalities, violent crime, property crime, number of registered sex offenders, and number of law enforcement employees. The City of Murrieta is proud to be one of only seven California cities on the top 25 list, ranking the 25th safest city in the nation for trick-or-treating!
