On 7/9/19 at approximately 1100 hours, Murrieta Police Department Officers responded to the 23000 block of Abury Avenue regarding a call of a family disturbance. The reporting party walked away from the residence and called to the Murrieta Police Department to report that a male inside the residence was being aggressive towards members of his family.
Upon arrival, officers located a male later identified as Jacob Lepe covered in what appeared to be blood standing over a female on the side of the residence. Lepe did not comply with commands from the officers on scene and an electronic control device (Taser) was deployed striking Lepe, which assisted officers in taking Lepe into custody. The female that Lepe was standing over was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Murrieta Police Department Detective Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The follow up investigation revealed Lepe was responsible for the death of the female. Lepe was arrested for homicide and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Detective Sergeant Brendan Carney at (951) 461-6358.
