[ARCHIVED] City of Murrieta Pays Tribute to 20th Anniversary of September 11

City of Murrieta Pays Tribute to 20th Anniversary of September 11 with Multiple Opportunities to Honor the Lives Lost and Join Together as a Community

Murrieta, CA: The City of Murrieta invites the community to join together and remember an important date in our nation’s history. On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the City will mark the 20th anniversary of the four coordinated terrorist attacks and pay respects to those who perished on that fateful day in two observance ceremonies. All events take place at Murrieta’s Town Square Park, which is located between City Hall and the Murrieta Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and reflect on the occasion. The events are open to the public and free of charge.

At approximately 5:40 a.m., leading up to when the first plane struck the North Tower, the City will begin a solemn remembrance ceremony at the park’s 9/11 Memorial. A bell tolling will honor the lives lost in the air and on the ground on September 1, 2001, and remarks will be provided by Murrieta Police Chief Tony Conrad, Murrieta Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Mike Lopez, Murrieta City Council members, and dignitaries throughout the morning. The public is invited to visit the City’s 9/11 Memorial and sign an event guest book throughout the ceremony.

At 6 p.m. that evening, please join the City and community members for a special remembrance concert featuring the Temecula Valley Symphony at the Town Square Park Amphitheater. The concert will feature patriotic classics.

Please contact Murrieta Community Services at (951) 304-PARK (7275) with any questions or go to www.murrietaca.gov/events for more information.
