[ARCHIVED] Murrieta Softens Parking Rules to Support Restaurants

Today, the State of California approved the plans submitted by Riverside County and authorized the County to move further into Phase 2 re-openings, which include allowing restaurants to offer dine-in service with reduced capacities to maintain social distancing per California Department of Public Health guidelines.

To assist restaurants located within the City of Murrieta with their reopening plans, the City is allowing restaurants to use some of their on-site parking to add additional locations for outdoor dining.

The additional tables and seating should be located in close proximity to the restaurant, and must not block access to handicapped parking spaces or fire lanes. Enforcement of on-site parking requirements for restaurants will be temporarily suspended. The City Manager will allow this using her emergency powers in the Municipal Code (2.60.060(A)(6)(a)). Additional information will be available on May 26, 2020, but the authorization is effective immediately.
