FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
To expand its capacity to engage with residents and stakeholders, the City of Murrieta has launched a chat feature on its public website, www.MurrietaCA.gov. Website users can now chat with available City Hall, Police, Fire, Parks and Recreation, and Library staff.
Users simply click the yellow chat bar that is located on every page of the website, select a department, and an employee with knowledge in that area will respond. If a staff member is not available, there is an option to leave a message and the City will follow up via email.
City Manager Kim Summers explains how chat provides an important, real-time tool as the City expands its strategies to engage residents remotely.
“When City closures limited the public’s direct access to staff, we began seeking innovative ways to remain as connected as possible while working behind the scenes. We anticipate that live chat will continue to provide value to residents seeking information even after we re-open.”
Over the next few months, the City will monitor demand and make adjustments as departments weave chat response into their daily workflow.
“Whether it’s a road construction update, COVID-19 information, or questions on how to participate in a remote Council meeting, we want to make it easy for citizens to connect with the people at the City of Murrieta and get the information they need,” adds Summers.
City Hall is seeking feedback from community members who have used its new chat tool. Please contact [email protected] in the City’s Public Information Office with your comments.
