The Murrieta Police Department receives regular training through a variety of sources and providers, most of which are external. The majority of training we send our Officers to follow POST guidelines which have been standardized throughout the State of California. Additionally, we regularly send Officers to the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center for regular refresher training for topics such as defensive tactics, use of force options and defensive driving training.
The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training
The Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) was established by the Legislature in 1959 to set minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement. The Murrieta Police Department is a POST Program participating agency and we abide by the standards they’ve established. You can visit the POST website for more information on their training standards, policies and practices.
