City of Murrieta Hosts Free Waste Drop-Off Event in Partnership with Waste Management This year’s event features FREE document shredding, bulky item drop off, and compost mulch pickup!
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., the City of Murrieta is hosting a free bulky item drop-off event in partnership with Waste Management. The community is invited to get rid of extra bulky items and/or documents for shredding at Murrieta City Hall (1 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562). In addition, the City is excited to offer a free compost mulch pickup station for the first time. Compost mulch is available until supply runs out. Shovels will be provided, but interested residents should bring a tarp or bags to put the compost mulch on/in.

Murrieta Innovation Center Welcomes International Tenant NeuroReality: Pioneering Cognitive Rehabilitation Technology
The Murrieta Innovation Center is pleased to announce the addition of NeuroReality, a groundbreaking Dutch company, as a new international tenant. Founded in 2017, NeuroReality has been at the forefront of democratizing access to cognitive rehabilitation and positively impacting the lives of millions of people worldwide who suffer from cognitive impairments relating to brain injury after a stroke. Murrieta Fire & Rescue Awarded International Reaccredited Agency Status
Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) proudly announces its renewed accredited agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). This recognition is a result of MFR's commitment to excellence demonstrated through the voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program established by CFAI. Including MFR, there are only 22 accredited agencies in all of California and only 308 worldwide recognized by CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE).

The Murrieta Police Department invites the entire community to the upcoming 2023 National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Square Park in Murrieta. This family-centered event aims to elevate crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and forge even closer police-community relationships. National Night Out events take place throughout the country to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. City of Murrieta Celebrates Its 32nd anniversary with Annual Birthday Bash
Murrieta is turning 32, and we are throwing a birthday party for the whole community. The City of Murrieta invites residents and visitors alike to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of cityhood at its annual Birthday Bash on Saturday, June 24, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at California Oaks Sports Park. Come and enjoy a variety of exciting family-friendly activities, including live entertainment, a firefighter’s hose down, delicious food vendors, and the eagerly anticipated fireworks show at 9 p.m. Live music on the main stage will start at 5 p.m. with Skynyrd and Company, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, and headliner, K-Tel All-Stars, will be rocking 70s tunes beginning at 7 p.m.

The City of Murrieta and Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce are proud to present the 32nd Annual Murrieta State of the City on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort Conference Center. Mayor Dr. Lisa DeForest will deliver the address at 7 p.m., inspired by the healthy ecosystem created in Murrieta, where residents are connected by safety, innovation, activity, and quality of life. Mayor DeForest’s 7 p.m. address is open to the public and free to attend. Preceding the event, the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce will host a VIP reception featuring local sips and bites from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tickets for the VIP reception are available for $45. Murrieta Finance Department Honored with Multiple Awards for Biennial Budget, Financial Report, and Capital Budget
The City of Murrieta is proud to be the recipient of three distinguished awards that highlight the priority Murrieta City Council and staff place on transparent and accurate financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded both the Distinguished Budget Award for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021/22 and FY 2022/23 Biennial Operating Budget and Excellence in Financial Reporting for the FY 2021/22 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. In addition, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers awarded the City their Capital Budget Excellence Award for the Capital Improvement Plan & Budget for FY 2022/23.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue Celebrates 76th Anniversary with Historic Firefighter’s BBQ
Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) is excited to once again host its popular annual Firefighter’s BBQ on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Murrieta’s Town Square Park. This year’s event will be bigger than ever, with live music at Murrieta’s Town Square Park Amphitheater, a variety of activities throughout the day, vendors, and other activities. The Murrieta Firefighter’s BBQ is one of Riverside County’s longest-running events, with the first barbecue held in 1948. As is the tradition, barbecue guests will enjoy a smoked tri-tip lunch, music, beer and wine garden, cornhole tournament, and a vendors’ market. The event is open to the public and free to attend.

Murrieta Police Department Partners to Enhance Public Safety Communication in Murrieta
In a continued effort to provide the highest quality police service to the citizens of Murrieta, the Murrieta Police Department is proud to announce that the new Public Safety Enterprise Communication (PSEC) Hollingsworth Tower is now in use and fully functional. This means areas in Southwest Riverside County, including Murrieta, that previously lacked radio service for first responders now have 100% communication coverage, supporting the safety of both law enforcement personnel and residents. While getting to this point took many years, the importance of having timely, reliable countywide interoperable communications for all Riverside County public safety agencies and emergency management partners throughout Murrieta remained a priority.

City of Murrieta Wins Award for Turning Red Tape Into Red Carpet with the New Murrieta Hot Springs Resort
The City of Murrieta is thrilled to announce that the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort project was selected for the Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse award at the 10th Annual Turning Red Tape into Red Carpet Awards. Hosted by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP), this award recognizes real estate development or adaptive reuse projects that create jobs or additional tax sources. Fire Damages Murrieta Home
Murrieta Fire & Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire on the 41000 block of Primula Circle yesterday evening, December 7, 2022. A neighbor called 9-1-1 and reported that smoke was seen coming from the second-story window of the home next door. Upon arrival, Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel immediately engaged in firefighting efforts on the home's first floor, with extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the residence.

The City of Murrieta Receives Four Grants Totaling More than $1.5M to Expand Services
The Murrieta Public Library is proud to announce that it was awarded more than $1.5 million from the Building Forward Grant Program offered by the California State Library. This grant will fund a remodel and construct an expansion to the Children’s Library area at the Murrieta Public Library. The expansion will extend outwards into the 15,000 available square feet from the current garden area – extending library capacity by almost 20%.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue Honors Life of Retired Fire Chief
Murrieta Fire & Rescue is saddened to announce the passing of retired Fire Chief Marvin D. Curran at the age of 93. Chief Curran was a lifelong Murrieta resident, US Army veteran, dedicated public servant, and founding member of the Murrieta Fire Department. He was the second fire chief to serve in Murrieta Fire's 75-year history.

The City of Murrieta to Host Its 20th Annual Veterans Day Parade
The City of Murrieta has long prided itself on its support for those serving in and those who have served in the nation’s armed forces. It is with pride that the City celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Veterans Day Parade. Join the City of Murrieta on Friday, November 11, for a patriotic celebration throughout Downtown Murrieta. At 10 a.m., the event will kick off with the singing of the national anthem and, hopefully, a military flyover. The parade will then start on Washington Avenue and conclude at Town Square Park (11 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562) with the Murrieta Rotary’s Field of Honor. This year, the City is excited to feature all three Murrieta high school marching bands and JROTC groups, in addition to other schools in the region, in the parade. The parade will be kicked off by this year’s grand marshal, Congressman Darrell Issa.

Murrieta Police Department Awarded $115,000 Grant to Deter Unsafe Behaviors, Increase Safety on Road
The Murrieta Police Department will increase patrols throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on roads. “This grant funding allows us to support our ongoing traffic safety efforts in the community,” Murrieta Police Department Chief Tony Conrad said. “Our intent is to stop the most unlawful and dangerous behaviors that put people at risk and create an environment where everyone feels safe traveling.”

The City of Murrieta Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Opportunities to Get Engaged
The City of Murrieta is going PINK! The Month of October signifies Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. The City offers a variety of ways to support this month-long campaign, from the Human Pink Ribbon photo that kicked off the month on October 1 to the Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk on October 9. Even Murrieta PD is “going pink” with their pink patch debut and Murrieta Fire & Rescue is raising funds through special breast cancer awareness t-shirts. Proceeds from both of these fundraisers will go directly to Michelle’s Place, a local nonprofit that provides support and resources to those impacted by cancer. And if you drive by City Hall at night the first half of the month, it will be lit pink as well. The second half of the month the City Hall lights will be purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is also this in October.

The Murrieta Innovation Center is proud to celebrate a major milestone for the business incubator: the signing of their first international startup. This comes after a concerted effort by the City of Murrieta and Impact Riverside County—the agencies that manage the Innovation Center—and the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to attract international businesses to Murrieta and its burgeoning medical and innovation landscape. The City of Murrieta’s Economic Development team recently attended a signing for a new tenant in the Murrieta Innovation Center (MIC), Super Family. Adria Reinertson Selected as Murrieta's New Fire Marshal
After an extensive and competitive recruitment, Murrieta Fire & Rescue is pleased to announce the hiring of Adria Reinertson as Murrieta’s new Fire Marshal. Reinertson most recently served as the Deputy Fire Marshal with CAL-Fire/Riverside County Fire and has twenty-five years of experience in community risk reduction. Reinertson was selected as Fire Marshal after a nearly two-year vacancy.

Kristen was the assistant city manager in Del Mar since 2014. The City of Murrieta is proud to present the 31st Annual State of the City on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Murrieta Hot Springs Resort (located at Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Margarita Road). The resort will be under new ownership and this event is a unique opportunity to welcome guests behind the gates of the historic property. Mayor Jonathan Ingram will deliver the address inspired by Murrieta’s high quality of life thanks to recent developments, safety, health, and innovation. The State of the City address will take place at 7 p.m., in what will be the first large-scale public event at the Murrieta Hot Springs in over 26 years. Murrieta Financing Authority Special Tax Revenue Bonds Rating Upgraded to A+ By S&P Global Ratings in Connection With its $29.075 Million Bond Sale
The City of Murrieta is pleased to announce that on May 12, 2022, the City, through the Murrieta Financing Authority (Authority), successfully sold $29.075 million of Local Agency Revenue Refunding Bonds. The proceeds from the bonds were used to refund five outstanding series of bonds issued by community facilities districts (CFDs) located in Murrieta. By taking advantage of the historically low interest rates at the time of sale, the City locked in over $11 million in gross cash flow savings. This process did not extend the length of the bonds, nor did it cost the City of Murrieta any General Fund monies.

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.4 Million in the Murrieta Innovation Center to Support Life Sciences Industry
The City of Murrieta and Impact Southwest Riverside County (Impact SWRC) are proud to announce the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Agency (EDA) is awarding a $2.4 million grant to the City of Murrieta to support extensive improvements to the Murrieta Innovation Center (MIC), creating a hub for science and innovation in the region. The funds will support a new wet lab, a cleanroom, a new dry lab, and the renovation of existing office and conference spaces to the MIC.

Murrieta Receives Federal Funding for Two Projects Providing Regional Impact
On March 12, 2022, federal funding was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations bill, bringing $1.1 million to Western Riverside County to fund homeless prevention efforts and emergency preparedness. The City’s regional homeless services will receive $500,000 and an additional $600,000 was allocated for emergency operations equipment at Loma Linda University Medical Center Murrieta. The funds are the result of Community Project Funding requests supported by the 42nd Congressional District.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue Secures New Firefighting Water Tender Thanks to Measure T Funds
In October 2021, Murrieta Fire & Rescue took delivery of a new water tender, which greatly increases firefighting capabilities during local wildfires and remote structure fires. The new tactical water tender is a mobile water source for fighting fires. Since arriving in Murrieta, the department has outfitted the new apparatus with the tools, equipment, communications gear, and electronics necessary for the new water tender to be fully operational. In-service training for all fire suppression personnel, a critical element in order to put the equipment into service, has been completed and in late December the new apparatus officially went into service.

The City of Murrieta Announces Application Period for District 5 City Council Seat
On September 27, 2021, the City of Murrieta will begin accepting applications for an upcoming City Council vacancy in Murrieta’s fifth district. Mayor Scott Vinton recently submitted his formal resignation from his role on the Murrieta City Council and at the September 21, 2021 City Council meeting the Council voted to fill the vacancy through an appointment process.

City of Murrieta Pays Tribute to 20th Anniversary of September 11
The City of Murrieta invites the community to join together and remember an important date in our nation’s history. On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the City will mark the 20th anniversary of the four coordinated terrorist attacks and pay respects to those who perished on that fateful day in two observance ceremonies. All events take place at Murrieta’s Town Square Park, which is located between City Hall and the Murrieta Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and reflect on the occasion. The events are open to the public and free of charge.

City of Murrieta Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Incorporation with Birthday Bash
The City of Murrieta will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its incorporation with a birthday bash on Saturday, September 4, from 2 p.m. until just after 9 p.m. The free event features family-friendly activities, a scooter demonstration, firefighter hose down, and live music. The day culminates with a bang during 20-minute fireworks show at 9 p.m. The fun takes place at Murrieta’s California Oaks Sports Park (40600 California Oaks Road).
