Development Services 


The Development Services Department (DSD) is responsible for implementing the land use goals, policies, and regulations established by the Murrieta City Council for private and public development projects. To effectively carry out these responsibilities, DSD is comprised of the following four separate but interrelated divisions.   • PLANNING 
    Implements and updates the City’s land development regulations through plan review and long-range planning functions, respectively.

  • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
    Develops and implements a cohesive and untied approach to recruitment, attraction, and business growth in the City.
  • BUILDING & SAFETY
    Ensures new development meets state and local construction standards through plan check and building inspection.
  • CODE ENFORCEMENT
    Ensures residents and businesses comply with the City’s various land use codes and nuisance regulations.
