Permit Processing Program
Online Permitting Now Available
On March 1, 2023, the City of Murrieta launched its new online permitting system to better serve customers. Now all solar, main panel upgrades, HVAC install and replacements, tenant improvements, water heaters, patios/balconies (City Standard), and pool permits, among many other permit functions will be done through a new customer self-service platform.
Submittals for:
Tenant Improvements, New Single Family Homes/Tract Homes, Multi Family homes, New Commercial/Industrial, Cell Sites, Signs, Commercial EV charging Stations, Demos, Single Family Additions/Alterations (major alterations), ADU/JADU, Hotel/Motel. Other projects may apply. Please call if you have questions. Please follow the requirements below:
Please review the following resources to submit your plan submittals properly to prevent any processing delays:
Submittals For: Small Single Family Residential projects (listed below), submit application, plans and supplemental documents to: [email protected]:
- Water Softeners, Re-pipe, Sewer/DWV Repair, Temp Power/Meter Pedestals (up to 400AMP), Residential EV outlets, Retaining Walls (City Standard), Fence/Block wall (City Standard), Minor Plumbing Work/Repairs, Minor Electrical Work/Repairs, Re-Roof, minor alterations and similar projects types for single family residential projects.
Building
This program provides all customers (residents, developers, architects and engineers) with fast, fair and friendly counter services. The Building Safety Division:
- Coordinates with other city departments in the application and permitting process
- Takes in building permit applications and plan-check submittals (Now Electronically)
Please note that a new submittal must have an address and an APN in order for the Building Department to review the plans.

Call a permit technician at 951-461-6062 to schedule an appointment if you have any questions regarding new submittals and resubmittals.
City Business License and State Contractor License information and expiration dates must be present on applications at the time of applying for permits.

7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Cashier closes at 5:00 p.m.)
Alternating Fridays
7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Cashier closes at 4:00 p.m.)

All tract-related submittals shall be by appointment only. Call 951-461-6062 or refer to the staff directory and arrange a submittal appointment with one of the development services technicians. Email correspondences ensure a faster response.
