Candidate Resources
Qualification
Members of the City Council are elected by-district. Pursuant to Government Code section 34882, the City Council member elected to represent a district must reside in that district and be a registered voter in that district. Any candidate for City Council must reside in, and be a registered voter in, the district in which he or she seeks election at the time nomination papers are issued, pursuant to Elections Code section 10227.
Nomination Period
The nomination period is from July 18, 2022, to August 12, 2022. The required documents and forms will not be available until that time.
Although City Hall is closed every other Friday (July 29, August 12), the City Clerk’s Department will remain open only for the purpose of issuing and/or accepting nomination papers, during hours as posted.
Monday – Thursday: 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
Friday: 7:30 A.M to 4:30 P.M.
Individuals interested in pulling Nomination Papers to become a City Council Candidate should make an appointment with the City Clerk by contacting the City Clerks Department at (951) 461-6030 or via email at [email protected].
Public Examination Period
The Nomination Period closed on August 12, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. The public examination period will begin on August 13, 2022 through August 22, 2022. Material available for the public examination period will be available for inspection at the City Clerk's Office during normal business hours as posted.

Current Contribution Limit
Pursuant to Chapter 2.05 Campaign Contribution Limit of the Murrieta Municipal Code, the contribution limit will be $1,320 effective April 2023.
