Stop Identity Theft Program - Document On-Site Shredding Event

To help stop identity theft and as a service to our residents, the City of Murrieta City Clerk Department is hosting a FREE Document On-Site Shredding Event. The event will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. or until the truck is filled to capacity. Residents may bring up to FIVE banker-sized boxes per trip, to the back parking lot of City Hall.

Items that may be included are paper documents such as legal, medical, financial, tax, bank, photos, and credit card statements (no need to remove staples or paper clips). Residents may also bring credit cards and CDs. No businesses please.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

When is the collection event and where will it take place? 

This year’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the rear parking lot of City Hall, located at 1 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562.

What can you drop off at the event?  We will only accept the following items at the event:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Corrosives/Flammables (fuel, kerosene, etc.)
  • E-scraps (televisions, computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones, etc.)
  • Light bulbs
  • Oil
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Needles, sharps & unused medication

What is not accepted at the event? 

We will NOT be accepting appliances, tires, trash, and containers larger than five gallons or weighing more than 50 pounds. Riverside County has the right to reject any item that you bring. For disposal questions on additional HHW items, visit the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources website at or call (951) 486-3200. 

Is there a cost for dropping off your hazardous items?  The event is FREE to the community and available to all Riverside County residents.

How do I drop off my items?  You load your car, drive to the event and we’ll do the rest! We do our best to keep traffic flowing so we ask that all attendees remain in their vehicles. We have volunteers who will unload your car for you and sort the items appropriately. 

Please note - this event attracts a lot of people! While we work as fast as we can to get people through the line, please anticipate a wait. Thanks in advance for your patience and we appreciate you taking the time to properly dispose of hazardous waste.
