Musical Instruments Available for Checkout at the Library

MURRIETA, CA – The Murrieta Public Library will have musical instruments available for checkout starting January 2, 2018. Library card holders may borrow musical instruments at the Adult Reference Desk and instruments are available to patrons 18 and up and can be checked out for two weeks. Some of the instruments available are: Acoustic Guitar, Bongo Drum Set, Electric Guitar, Electronic Keyboard, Ukulele, to name a few.

Checkout cases will be available in the new book section and like other items in the special collections, such as Nooks, Launchpads and Storytime kits, patrons are unable to place a hold on these resources in the catalog. Since there are a limited number of instruments, the Library wants to be sure everyone gets a chance to use these resources, so there will be no renewals and a one-at-a-time instrument limit, at this time. The late fee is $.25/day per instrument. Patrons will be responsible for the full cost to replace any damaged instruments and these fees can range from $15.00 to $350.00.

The Library is looking to expand this new collection, and if possible, to add student-scale and left-handed instruments to make the collection as accessible as possible. If you’d like to donate an instrument or instrument accessory that you no longer want or need and it is in like-new to good condition, please email Agnes Rita at arita@murrietaca.gov or call at (951) 461-6130.

The Murrieta Public Library is located at 8 Town Square (Adams Avenue and Kalmia Street). For more information call (951) 304-BOOK (2665) or visit the Library’s web page at www.murrietalibrary.info.
