Murrieta became the first city to receive a special award from the U.S. Department of Commerce-Inland Region at the Inland Empire World Trade Conference last week. The award is in recognition of the City’s leadership role in promoting the growth of local businesses through exports and foreign direct investment.
Mayor Rick Gibbs accepted the award from the Assistant U.S. Undersecretary of Commerce/Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service. The special award reads: “for outstanding contribution to regional job growth by supporting U.S. exports and foreign direct investment”.
International business advisor for Murrieta, Juha Kiesi understands the importance of foreign direct investment. He joined with Finland based manufacturers to create his company, Yepzon, which helps locate children wit h Autism. Yepzon is just one example of a Murrieta based start-up born in the spirit of foreign direct investment.
