Learn about backyard composting and how to make something beneficial for your garden from things you are already throwing away! Composting is a natural process in which organic materials decompose, and become a nutrient-rich soil amendment. Since 30 percent of household trash is made up of yard waste and kitchen scraps, composting is a great way to reduce waste going to landfills and enhance yields from your gardening efforts.
Composting bins will be available for purchase from Riverside County Department of Waste Resources for $12. Compost bins are available for purchase for Riverside County residents only and proof of residency will be required. There is a limit of up to 3 compost bins per household, subject to availability.
Date: Saturday, October 17
Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Murrieta Public Library 8 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562
