General Plan Update 2018

The City’s General Plan 2035 was adopted in 2011 and provides a vision for the development of the City for a 25 year period. This “Project” collectively includes a General Plan Update (GPA) and Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR). The GPA will include changes to the General Plan necessary to address:

  • Recent Changes In State Law since 2011;
  • Potential Changes to Land Use Designations and Policies in Focused Areas within the City.

The first public workshop (workshop #1) for the Project was held at the Multi-Purpose Room, Vista Murrieta High School on November 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and provided information on key topics including:

  • Project Overview;
  • Land Use Planning Program;
  • Changes in State Law since 2011;
  • Climate Change;
  • Circulation; and
  • Water Resources.

Workshop #1 provided opportunities for members of the public to speak with the Project Team and to provide input on the various topics.  Approximately 60 individuals attended workshop #1 and a great deal of feedback was received!   Hard copies of the survey were also provided at workshop #1 and were also available at our pop-up tent at the Festival of Trees on Saturday December 1, 2018.  The pop-up event took place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Town Square Park in Murrieta.
