On August 29th, 2013 the Murrieta Police Department School Resource Officer assigned to Vista Murrieta High School began a sexual assault investigation involving several Vista Murrieta High School students. On September 3rd, 2013 the investigation was turned over to the police department’s investigative unit. On September 12th, 2013 that investigation resulted in the arrest of two of those students. Both students were arrested and ultimately booked at Southwest Juvenile Hall for Ca Penal Code 261. The investigation has been submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney for prosecution. No other information will be released regarding this case due to the fact that all parties involved are minors. It should be noted, the school district and the police department make campus safety a high priority. All suspects in this investigation have been contacted by detectives and arrested. Vista Murrieta High School is a safe campus and the sexual assault incidents revealed during this investigation occurred off campus.
