On 09-03-12 at approximately 2124 hours, Murrieta police officers were dispatched to the area of Hancock Avenue and Parkcrest Drive in regards to a suspect who physically assaulted a 17-year-old male victim. After the assault, the suspect had taken the victims' bicycle and fled prior to police arrival. At the time of this initial call for service, the victim was only able to provide limited information on the suspect. The victim sustained minor to moderate injuries from the assault.
On 09-04-12, officers continued their investigation and subsequently learned the identity of the suspect. Through our investigation, the suspect was identified as James Cuevas (a 20-year-old Murrieta resident).
At approximately 2309 hours (same date), officers arrived in the 39000 block of Avenida Palazada St., Murrieta and took Mr. Cuevas in to custody without incident. Mr. Cuevas was transported to the Southwest Detention Facility for 211PC – Robbery; 245PC – Assault with a deadly weapon; and 1203.2PC – Violation of probation.
